Questions, answered

Is it really free?

Yes. The application is free to download and use, with no ads, and its free features need no account. Pro is optional and pays for the features that run on our servers — see Pricing.

Do I need an account?

Not for the free features: the popup, every translation service except Khadhami Translation, offline translation, dictionaries, history and private mode all work without one. A free account adds Khadhami Translation — a daily allowance on our own service — and is needed to buy credits or Pro.

What does Pro add?

Screen translation, live subtitles, a far larger daily allowance on the hosted service, and credits every month — see Pricing.

Where does my text go?

To the translation service you picked, over an encrypted connection, and nowhere else. In private mode nothing leaves your computer at all.

Does it work offline?

Partly — and here is exactly how far. Translation runs entirely on your computer between English and Arabic, Chinese, French, German, or Spanish, once you download that pair (about 110 MB each). The dictionaries, history and private mode work offline too. The other translation services are online and need a connection.

Does it work in mainland China?

Yes, without a VPN. Google is blocked there, so choose Microsoft Bing — it uses cn.bing.com by itself — or Alibaba Translate. Neither needs a key or an account, and offline translation needs no connection at all.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit.

Can I cancel Pro?

Any time, from your PayPal account. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. The details are in our Refund Policy.
