Select the text
Drag over a word or a paragraph in whatever you are reading. The selection is read through the Windows accessibility layer, so your clipboard is left alone.

Press Ctrl+Q
Or set mouse mode and skip the shortcut entirely. Every shortcut is rebindable, and a blocked one is retried automatically if another program releases it.

Read it in place
A small window opens beside the cursor with the translation, alternative meanings, and pronunciation. Press Escape and it is gone.

What it does
A native Windows application, not a browser wrapped in a window. It stays in the notification area until you ask for it.
You choose the service
Google, DeepL, Microsoft, Yandex, Baidu, MyMemory, LibreTranslate and more. The one you pick is the one that runs — nothing silently substitutes another.
A private mode that means it
One switch stops every network request. Translation continues through local dictionaries, and what you already looked up is dropped from memory.
Offline dictionaries
Install verified FreeDict language pairs, or import your own XDXF and TEI files. Reverse lookup and an English pivot work without a connection.
Translate what you can only see
Draw a box over an image, a video subtitle or a locked-down window and the text is recognised, translated and shown in place.
Keeps what you looked up
Searchable history, favourites and a vocabulary list you can export to Anki or CSV. Or keep none of it — history is a setting.

Privacy
Your text is not the product
Selected text goes to the translation service you chose, and nowhere else. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics build. Everything it remembers stays in a folder on your machine that you can delete.

Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The application is free to download and use, with no advertising. Some translation services need their own API key, which you supply if you want to use them. An optional paid plan covers the hosted translation service, which runs on our servers.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, once you install an offline dictionary pair. Online services obviously need a connection, but the local dictionary engine, screen recognition and the interface all work without one.
Where does my selected text go?
To whichever translation service you chose, over HTTPS, and nowhere else. There is no analytics service and no account. In private mode nothing leaves your computer at all.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. The installer is self-contained, so you do not need to install .NET separately.
Why does Windows warn me when I run the installer?
The installer is not yet signed with a commercial code-signing certificate, so SmartScreen shows a caution the first time. You can verify the download yourself: the SHA-256 checksum of every release is published in the release manifest next to the file.
Can I use it at work?
Yes — the licence permits use at work at no charge. Check with whoever owns your security policy before sending company text to an external translation service, or run it in private mode with local dictionaries, where nothing is sent.
